The Metals:
Gold jumped up to $1166.43 by a little after 2AM EST and climbed $8.33 to $1167.13 in early New York trade before it fell back off into midday, but it still ended with a gain of 0.22%. Silver rose to as high as $15.563 and ended with a gain of 2.11%.
Euro gold rose to about €1053, platinum lost $6 to $1023, and copper climbed 8 cents to about $2.56.
Gold and silver equities waffled near unchanged and ended mixed.

Oil climbed over 2% higher on easing worries about China.
The U.S. dollar rose as the euro fell on continued uncertainty about Greece.
Treasuries remained lower after today’s 30-year note auction sold at yield of 3.084% with a bid to cover of 2.23.
The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P saw notable gains at the open before they fell back off for most of the rest of the day, but they still ended modestly higher.
Among the big names making news in the market today were P&G, PepsiCo, Boeing, and TPG.
