The Metals:
Gold edged up to $1099.24 in Asia before it fell back to $1091.49 at about 10AM EST, but it then bounced back higher for most of the rest of trade and ended with a gain of 0.15%. Silver rose to as high as $14.906 and ended with a gain of 0.95%.
Euro gold rose to about €999, platinum remained at $982, and copper stayed at about $2.41.
Gold and silver equities rose about 2% by midday and remained near that level for the rest of the day.

Oil turned higher after the Energy Information Administration reported that crude inventories fell 4.2 million barrels, gasoline inventories fell 400,000 barrels, and distillates rose 2.6 million barrels.
The U.S. dollar added to modest gains and treasuries remained lower after today’s fed statement kept the view that an interest rate hike is still likely at some point this year.
The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P traded mostly higher and ended with decent gains.
Among the big names making news in the market today were GM, MasterCard, VW, and GlaxoSmithKline.
