Gold dipped to $1084.67 in Asia before it rallied back to $1092.43 in London and then fell to a new session low of $1083.04 by late morning in New York, but it then bounced back higher in early afternoon trade and ended with a loss of just 0.29%. Silver rose to as high as $14.712 and ended with a gain of 0.07%.
Euro gold fell to about €995, platinum lost $5 to $947, and copper remained at about $2.35.
Gold and silver equities drifted lower for most of the day and ended with over 2% losses.

Oil fell after the Energy Information Administration reported that crude inventories fell 4.4 million barrels, gasoline inventories rose 800,000 barrels, and distillates rose 700,000 barrels.
The U.S. dollar waffled near unchanged on mixed economic data that sent treasuries lower.
The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P traded mostly higher on decent earnings reports.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Priceline, Virtu, Time Warner, and Standard Chartered.
