The Metals:
Gold climbed $16.70 to $1125.40 by late morning in New York and ended with a gain of 1.36%. Silver rose to as high as $15.592 and ended with a gain of 1.17%.
Euro gold rose to about €1006, platinum gained $10 to $995, and copper climbed a penny to about $2.35.
Gold and silver equities marched steadily higher for most of the day and ended with about 7% gains.

Oil pared early gains after the Energy Information Administration reported that crude inventories fell 1.68 million barrels, gasoline inventories fell 1.3 million barrels, and distillates rose 3.0 million barrels.
The U.S. dollar fell markedly as the euro jumped higher on uncertainty about interest rate policy.
Treasuries rose in early trade as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P traded about 1% lower for most of the morning on concerns about China and yuan devaluation, but stocks then rebounded in afternoon trade and ended near unchanged on hopes that recent measures will prove helpful.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Macy’s, Kraft Heinz, GE, Fidelity National, AT&T, CHS, Citigroup, and Alibaba.
