The Metals:
Gold gained $6.47 to $1124.17 in Asia before it drifted back towards unchanged in London, but it then rose to as high as $1133.84 in New York and ended with a gain of 1.34%. Silver surged to as high as $15.344 and ended with a gain of 2.55%.
Euro gold rose to about €1018, platinum gained $18 to $1010, and copper fell a penny to about $2.28.
Gold and silver equities rose over 3% in the first 20 minutes of trade before they fell back off at times, but they then rallied back higher in late trade and ended near their highs of the session.

Oil fell over 4% after the Energy Information Administration reported that crude inventories rose 2.6 million barrels, gasoline inventories fell 2.7 million barrels, and distillates rose 600,000 barrels.
The U.S. dollar dropped and treasuries shot higher after today’s fed minutes reduced expectations for an interest rate hike next month.
The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P fell markedly for most of the morning before they rallied back to almost unchanged after the release of today’s fed minutes, but they then fell back off again into the close and ended with almost 1% losses.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Target, Wal-Mart, and Apple.
