The Metals:
Gold dropped $4.50 to $1111.50 in Asia before it bounced back to $1117.96 in midmorning New York trade, but it then drifted back lower into the close and ended with a loss of 0.15%. Silver slipped to as low as $14.476 and ended with a gain of 0.14%.
Euro gold fell to about €996, platinum lost $6 to $901, and copper fell 4 cents to about $2.30.
Gold and silver equities saw about 2% gains at the open, but they then fell back off for most of the rest of trade and ended with about 2% losses.

Oil saw slight losses along with the U.S. dollar index and treasuries rose as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P traded mostly lower ahead of tomorrow’s jobs data.
Among the big names making news in the market today were VW, Fiat Chrysler, GM, Verisk, SocGen, and Glencore.
