Gold jumped up to as high as $1141.02 by midmorning in New York before it drifted back lower at times, but it still ended with a gain of 2.06%. Silver surged to as high as $15.309 and ended with a gain of 4.67%.
Euro gold rose to about €1015, platinum gained $6 to $907, and copper climbed a few cents to about $2.33.
Gold and silver equities rose throughout most of trade and ended with about 8% gains.
The BLS net birth/death adjustment subtracted 34,000 payrolls from September’s data. Private Payrolls rose 118,000.

Oil rose after the release of a report showing a weekly drop in the number of active U.S. rigs drilling for oil.
The U.S. dollar index fell and treasuries rose as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P traded mixed in reaction to this morning’s disappointing jobs data.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Nissan, Wal-Mart, Target, Goldman Sachs, National Bank, and Volkswagen.
