The Metals:
Gold gained $13.11 to $1179.41 at about 8AM EST before it fell back to $1159.15 in the next couple of hours of trade, but it then rallied back higher into the close and ended with a loss of just 0.15%. Silver rose to $16.087 before it dropped back to $15.719, but it then bounced back higher and ended with a gain of 0.13%.
Euro gold rose to about €1058, platinum lost $10 to $998, and copper fell a few cents to about $2.35.
Gold and silver equities climbed steadily higher throughout most of trade and ended with about 3% gains.

Next week’s economic highlights include New Home Sales Monday, Durable Goods Orders, the Case-Shiller 20 city Index, and Consumer Confidence on Tuesday, a FOMC Rate Decision on Wednesday, Initial Jobless Claims, GDP, and Pending Home Sales on Thursday, and Personal Income and Spending, Core PCE Prices, the Employment Cost Index, Chicago PMI, and Michigan Sentiment on Friday.

Oil fell almost 2% as the U.S. dollar index rose again “after the People’s Bank of China added to a climate of global monetary easing by cutting its two key interest rates.”
Treasuries fell as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P rose roughly 1% on China’s rate cut.
Among the big names making news in the market Friday were Microsoft, Caterpillar, Pandora, and Facebook.
