Gold bumped up to $1168.23 by a little after 8AM EST before it fell back to $1161.28 in the next 45 minutes of trade, but it then bounced back higher into late morning and ended with a gain of 0.23%. Silver slipped to $15.793 before it rallied back to $15.949 and then fell back off into the close, but it still ended with a gain of 0.13%.
Euro gold rose to about €1056, platinum lost $9 to $984, and copper climbed slightly to about $2.37.
Gold and silver equities waffled near unchanged and ended mostly higher.

Oil fell almost 2% ahead of tomorrow’s inventory data “after the U.S. government announced plans to sell millions of barrels of oil from its Strategic Petroleum Reserve.”
The U.S. dollar index edged higher along with treasuries ahead of tomorrow’s fed meeting.
The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P fell on mostly disappointing earnings results.
Among the big names making news in the market today were GM, Cummins, Daewoo, Pfizer, BP, Ford, and Comcast.
