The Metals:
Gold gained $16.16 to $1098.16 in Asia before it fell back off in London and New York, but it still ended with a gain of 0.11%. Silver surged to as high as $14.454 and ended with a gain of 0.28%.
Euro gold rose to about €1014, platinum gained $7 to $863, and copper dropped 5 cents to about $2.12.
Gold and silver equities rose over 1% at the open and remained near that level for the rest of the day.

Oil traded mixed and ended higher as geopolitical worries overcame economic uncertainty.
The U.S. dollar index rose along with treasuries as the euro fell after terror attacks in Paris raised worries about the European economy.
The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P traded mostly higher on strength in energy companies.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Berkshire Hathaway, Marriott, and Miramax.
