The Metals:

 

Gold saw only slight losses in Asia and London before it fell $17.60 to as low as $1065.60 by late morning in New York and then bounced back higher in afternoon trade, but it still ended with a loss of 1.26%.  Silver slipped to as low as $14.124 and ended with a loss of 0.42%.

 

Euro gold fell to about €1005, platinum lost $12 to $851, and copper fell a couple of cents to about $2.10.

 

Gold and silver equities fell throughout most of trade and ended with about 4% losses.

Oil fell ahead of expected builds in inventories from the American Petroleum Institute tonight and the Energy Information Administration tomorrow.

 

The U.S. dollar index rose along with treasuries on mixed economic data.

 

The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P held near unchanged on geopolitical uncertainty.

 

Among the big names making news in the market today were Kohl’s Home Depot, Angie’s List, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Tesla, TransCanada, VW, and Wal-Mart.
