Gold edged up to $1104.40 in Asia before it fell back to $1092.49 by late morning in New York, but it then bounced back higher in the last 5 hours of trade and ended with a gain of 0.14%. Silver slipped to as low as $13.887 and ended with a loss of 0.14%.
Euro gold rose to about €1013, platinum lost $2 to $819, and copper climbed a couple of cents to about $2.00.
Gold and silver equities traded about 2% lower for much of the morning, but they then rose to see over 1% gains by midafternoon and remained near that level for the rest of the day.

Oil rose over 4% on short covering and geopolitical concerns.
The U.S. dollar index initially jumped higher when the euro dove lower after Draghi indicated the ECB is ready to expand stimulus measures, but the dollar turned back down by the close after the euro recovered back to about unchanged on the day as treasuries fell and the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P climbed higher on relief over a recovery in the oil market.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Boeing, IndiGo, and Travelers.
