The Metals:
Gold gained $14.64 to $1122.94 by midafternoon in New York before it edged back lower in the last 90 minutes of trade, but it still ended with a gain of 1.18%. Silver rose to as high as $14.553 and ended with a gain of 1.83%.
Euro gold rose to about €1033, platinum gained $16.75 to $870.50, and copper climbed 4 cents to about $2.04.
Gold and silver equities rose about 5% by midday and remained near that level for the rest of the day.

Oil gained almost 4% on talks that OPEC may cut output.
The U.S. dollar index dropped and treasuries rose ahead of tomorrow’s fed announcement.
The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P saw roughly 1% gains on decent earnings reports and relief over oil’s recovery.
Among the big names making news in the market today were JPMorgan, Weight Watchers, Sprint, DuPont, and Apple.
