Gold soared higher throughout most of world trade and ended near its late session high of $1257.51 with a gain of 3.99%. Silver jumped to as high as $15.941 and ended with a gain of 2.75%.
Euro gold rose to about €1099, platinum gained $24 to $955, and copper fell a couple of cents to about $2.01.
Gold and silver equities rose over 6% at the open and remained near that level for the rest of the day.

Oil fell to the lowest since May 2003, the U.S. dollar index dropped, and treasuries rose markedly as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P settled roughly 1% lower on lost confidence in the world’s central bankers abilities to support the global economy.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Total, PepsiCo, Morgan Stanley, and Twitter.
