The Metals:
Gold gained $14.60 to $1240.20 at about 9AM EST before it chopped back lower into the close, but it still ended with a gain of 0.46%. Silver rose to as high as $15.521 and ended with a gain of 1.38%.

Euro gold rose to about €1082, platinum gained $9.50 to $970.50, and copper fell slightly to about $2.19.
Gold and silver equities traded mostly slightly lower and ended with about 1% losses.

Oil ended slightly higher as the U.S. dollar index fell again and treasuries rose ahead of tomorrow’s jobs report.
The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P saw slight gains for most of the morning, but they then drifted back lower in afternoon trade and ended mixed on interest rate uncertainty.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Tesla, Microsoft, GE Capital, and Valeant.
