The Metals:
Gold climbed higher throughout most of world trade and ended near its late session high of $1269.49 with a gain of 1.78%. Silver rose to as high as $17.636 and ended with a gain of 2.21%.
Euro gold rose to about €1117, platinum gained $31 to $1048, and copper remained at about $2.22.
Gold and silver equities rose over 4% by midday and remained near that level for the rest of trade.

Oil rose 1.5% on falling US production while the U.S. dollar index dropped nearly 1% as the yen jumped higher after the Bank of Japan defied market expectations and held off from expanding monetary stimulus.
Treasuries rose as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P fell about 1% by the close on poor economic data and central bank uncertainty.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Ford, Pfizer, Apple, and AbbVie.
