The Metals:
Gold popped up to $1233.80 in early Asian trade and held higher in London before it fell back to $1218.34 in early afternoon New York trade, but it then bounced back higher into the close and ended with a loss of just 0.37%. Silver rose to as high as $16.557 before it dropped back to $16.268, but it then edged back higher in late trade and ended with a gain of 0.12%.
Euro gold fell to about €1090, platinum lost $1 to $990, and coper remained at about $2.11.
Gold and silver equities traded mostly slightly higher and ended with modest gains.

Oil ended slightly lower on mixed news about recent supply disruptions.
The U.S. dollar index fell on uncertain economic data that sent treasuries higher.
The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P held near unchanged on offsetting retail reports.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Costco, Dollar-Store, and Snapchat.
