The Metals:
Gold edged down to $1313.06 in Asia before it bounced up to $1322.91 by late morning in New York and then fell to see a slight loss in the next 90 minutes of trade, but it then rallied back higher into the close and ended with a gain of 0.46%. Silver rose to as high as $18.793 and ended with a gain of 2.85%.
Euro gold rose to about €1193, platinum gained $20 to $1025, and copper climbed a penny to about $2.20.
Gold and silver equities rose roughly 1% at the open before they chopped back lower at times, but they then saw steady gains in the last few hours of trade and ended nearly 2% higher on the day.

Oil fell over 3% on the easing of supply disruptions in Nigeria and Canada.
The U.S. dollar index rose as the pound and euro fell “after Bank of England Governor Mark Carney said the central bank will likely need to further ease monetary policy this summer to help combat flagging economic growth.”
Treasuries fell as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P gained over 1% on more calls for looser monetary policy.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Darden Restaurants, Volkswagen, Hershey, and Wal-Mart.
