The Metals:
Gold saw slight gains in Asia before it fell to see a loss of $12.89 at $1351.11 in late morning New York trade, but rallied back higher into the close and ended with a loss of just 0.36%. Silver slipped to a low as $19.467 and ended with a loss of 2.09%.
Euro gold fell to about €1228, platinum gained $4 to $1087, and copper fell 3 cents to about $2.13.
Gold and silver equities fell over 3% by midmorning before they roughly halved their losses in early afternoon trade, but they then fell back off again into the close and ended with over 2.5% losses.

Oil fell almost 5% after the Energy Information Administration reported that crude inventories fell just 2.2 million barrels, gasoline inventories fell 100,000 barrels, and distillates fell 1.6 million barrels.
The U.S. dollar index rose as the euro and pound fell on lingering worries about Brexit that sent treasuries modestly higher and the Dow and S&P lower.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Volkswagen, Wendy’s, Humana, and PepsiCo.
