The Metals:
Gold jumped $7.55 to $1374.75 at the open of trade last night before it fell to as low as $1351.35 in midmorning New York trade and then bounced back higher into midday, but it still ended with a loss of 0.92%. Silver jumped to as high as $20.668 in Asia before it dropped back to $20.155 in early New York trade, but it then chopped back higher into the close and ended with a gain of 0.5%.
Euro gold fell to about €1225, platinum lost $1 to $1097, and copper climbed a few cents to about $2.16.
Gold and silver equities saw over 1% gains at about 11AM EST before they fell to see modest losses in early afternoon trade, but they then edged back higher into the close and ended with slight gains.

Oil drifted lower “after a survey revealed that crude production from members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries has climbed to a nearly eight-year high.”
The U.S. dollar index rose as the yen fell “following Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's call for a fresh round of fiscal stimulus after a victory for his ruling coalition in local elections.”
Treasuries saw notable losses as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P gained about 0.5% on economic optimism.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Alcoa, Starbucks, and Nintendo.
