The Metals:
Gold fell $5.78 to $1331.22 in late Asian trade, but it then climbed back higher for most of the rest of the day and ended near its late session high of $1354.96 with a gain of 1.07%. Silver rose to as high as $20.397 and ended with a gain of 0.59%.
Euro gold rose to about €1209, platinum gained $10.50 to $1141.50, and copper climbed a penny to about $2.23.
Gold and silver equities rose over 2% by late morning and remained near that level for the rest of the day.

Oil edged higher as the U.S. dollar index fell markedly and treasuries rose on more poor economic data that held the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P near unchanged despite mostly better than expected earnings reports.
Among the big names making news in the market Friday were Alphabet, Amazon, Exxon, Chevron, and Xerox.
