The Metals:
Gold saw slight gains in Asia before it dropped down to $1302.62 at about 9AM EST, but it then jumped to $1314.88 in the next four hours of trade and ended with a gain of 0.38%. Silver rose to as high as $18.928 and ended with a gain of 1.18%.
Euro gold remained at about €1173, platinum lost $3 to $1044, and copper remained at about $2.09.
Gold and silver equities fell over 1% at the open, but they then climbed back higher for most of the rest of trade and ended over 3% higher on the day.

Oil extended over 3% lower after yesterday’s stockpile build elevated supply concerns.
The U.S. dollar index fell and treasuries rose after today’s disappointing manufacturing data reduced expectations for an interest rate hike by the fed.
The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P traded mixed and ended near unchanged on worries about the economy.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Samsung, GM, Ford, and Campbell.
