The Metals:
Gold gained $8.27 to $1276.97 at about 8:30AM EST before it fell back to $1262.25 in the next 4 hours of trade, but it then bounced back higher in late trade and ended with a loss of just 0.17%. Silver climbed above $18 in Asia before it fell back to $17.555 in New York, but it ended with a loss of just 0.5%.
Euro gold fell to about €1130, platinum lost $10 to $974, and copper remained at about $2.17.
Gold and silver equities fell about 2% by early afternoon, but they then rallied back higher into the close and ended near unchanged on the day.

Oil remained over 2% higher after the Energy Information Administration reported that crude inventories fell 3.0 million barrels, gasoline inventories rose 200,000 barrels, and distillates fell 2.4 million barrels.
The U.S. dollar index ended slightly higher in mixed trade.
Treasuries fell on decent services and manufacturing data.
The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P followed the oil market higher.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Tesco, Constellation, BlackRock, Google, Monsanto, and Fidelity.
