Gold chopped between $1255.70 and $1261.90 in Asia before it dropped down to $1252.90 in London and then bounced back higher in New York, but it still ended with a loss of 0.48%. Silver slipped to as low as $17.44 and ended with a loss of 0.91%.
Euro gold rose to about €1134, platinum lost $17 to $943, and copper fell slightly to about $2.19.
Gold and silver equities fell about 2.5% in the first half hour of trade before they rose to see slight gains by late morning, but they then drifted back lower into the close and ended with about 2% losses on the day.

Oil fell over 1% after the IEA reported that crude output from OPEC rose in September.
The U.S. dollar index saw notable gains as the pound dropped again on worries about Brexit.
Treasuries fell along with the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P on concerns about rising interest rates.
Among the big names making news in the market today were St Jude, Samsung, Illumina, Alcoa, Phillips 66, Wells Fargo, and Deutsche Bank.
