Gold gained $9.25 to $1217.55 in London before it chopped back lower in New York, but it still ended with a gain of 0.34%. Silver rose to as high as $16.746 and ended with a gain of 0.06%.
Euro gold remained at about €1141, platinum gained $18 to $936, and copper climbed 5 cents to about $2.52.
Gold and silver equities rose about 2% at the open and remained near that level for the rest of the day.

Oil rose almost 4% “after Russian President Vladimir Putin said his country would freeze its oil output.”
The U.S. dollar index drifted lower and treasuries edged higher on profit taking from last week’s moves.
The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P followed the oil market higher.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Constellation Brands, Apple, Marathon, Citi, JPMorgan, and Tyson Foods.
