The Metals:
Gold gained $7.20 to $1177.90 in Asia before it dropped back to $1166.88 after this morning’s jobs report was released, but it then jumped back up to $1177.76 by midmorning and ended with a gain of 0.43%. Silver rose to as high as $16.802 and ended with a gain of 1.09%.
Euro gold rose to about €1102, platinum gained $15 to $927, and copper remained at about $2.62.
Gold and silver equities rose over 3% by midmorning and remained near that level for the rest of the day.

The U.S. dollar index fell and treasuries rose on this morning’s mixed jobs report that kept the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P near unchanged.
