Gold gained $8.25 to $1167.75 by a little after 8AM EST before it chopped back lower at times, but it still ended with a gain of 0.34%. Silver rose to as high as $16.522 and ended with a gain of 0.86%.
Euro gold fell to about €1110, platinum gained $2 to $939, and copper climbed 7 cents to about $2.55.
Gold and silver equities rose over 1% at the open and remained near that level for the rest of the day.

Oil rose almost 2% “on signs that major oil producers are sticking to their pledge to cut output.”
The U.S. dollar index fell as the euro climbed higher on “data showing euro zone prices rose more quickly than expected in December.”
Treasuries turned slightly higher and the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P held onto early gains after today’s fed minutes did not alter perceptions of the fed’s future actions.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Exxon Mobil, Nvidia, Faraday Future, Amazon, Deutsche Bank, and BMW.
