The Metals:
Gold fell $15.54 to $1184.56 in midmorning New York trade before it bounced back higher into the close, but it still ended with a loss of 0.92%. Silver slipped to as low as $16.683 and ended with a loss of 1.12%.
Euro gold fell to about €1113, platinum lost $6 to $974, and copper fell 4 cents to about $2.67.
Gold and silver equities dropped over 2% at the open and remained near that level for the rest of the day.

Oil rose 2% on “growing confidence that major oil producers have been cutting back output as promised.”
The U.S. dollar index rose along with treasuries as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P held near unchanged on mixed earnings reports.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Dow Chemical, Ford, Caterpillar, RBS, and J&J.
