Gold fell $8.48 to $1180.62 at about 8:45AM EST, but it then chopped back higher for most of the rest of trade and ended near its last minute high of $1191.60 with a gain of 0.15%. Silver surged to as high as $17.228 and ended with a gain of 1.9%.
Euro gold rose to about €1114, platinum gained $9 to $983, and copper climbed a couple of cents to about $2.69.
Gold and silver equities rose roughly 1% at the open and remained near that level for the rest of the day.

Oil fell over 1% “after data suggested drilling is ramping up in the United States.”
The U.S. dollar index pared overnight gains on disappointing economic data that sent treasuries higher.
The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P waffled near unchanged on mixed earnings reports.
Among the big names making news in the market Friday were BT Group, Tesco, Ford, Starbucks, American Airlines, Chevron, and Alphabet.
