The Metals:
Gold gained $8.50 to $1234.40 by a little after 8AM EST before it dropped back to $1222.00 in late morning trade, but it then bounced back higher in afternoon trade and ended with a gain of 0.12%. Silver jumped up to $18.072 before it fell back to $17.772, but it then rallied back higher into the close and ended with a gain of 0.67%.
Euro gold rose to about €1161, platinum gained $2 to $998, and copper fell 4 cents to about $2.77.
Gold and silver equities fell over 1% by midmorning before they rallied back higher into the close, but they still ended with modest losses on the day.

Oil saw slight gains on continued reports of high compliance with regards to pledged production cuts by OPEC producers.
The U.S. dollar index rose and treasuries fell as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P climbed to new record highs on Yellen’s confidence in the economy.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Cigna and Anthem, Toshiba, Aetna, Humana, Allergan, and Mattel.
