Gold gained $7.20 to $1258.20 in midmorning New York trade before it plummeted back to $1247.70 by a little after 1:30PM EST, but it then bounced back higher into the close and ended with a gain of 0.05%. Silver rose to as high as $18.457 before it also fell back off, but it still ended with a gain of 0.6%.
Euro gold remained at about €1181, platinum lost $2 to $1022, and copper climbed a couple of cents to about $2.71.
Gold and silver equities rose almost 3% in the first 45 minutes of trade, but they then drifted back lower into the close and ended near unchanged on the day.

Oil ended slightly lower ahead of tomorrow’s supply data.
The U.S. dollar index erased morning losses to end unchanged while treasuries rose and the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P fell on uncertainty about what Trump will say tonight.
