The Metals:
Gold fell $9.50 to $1224.90 in early afternoon New York trade before it rebounded slightly, but it still ended with a loss of 0.68%. Silver slipped to as low as $17.703 and ended with a loss of 0.89%.
Euro gold fell to about €1158, platinum lost $18 to $977, and copper fell 4 cents to about $2.66.
Gold and silver equities dropped roughly 4% by late morning before they bounced back higher into the close, but they still ended with almost 3% losses.

Oil edged lower on uncertainty about Chinese demand.
The U.S. dollar index rose and treasuries held near unchanged as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P fell on geopolitical concerns.
