The Metals:
Gold chopped up to $1283.20 in late morning New York trade before it dropped back to $1276.70 in early afternoon action, but it then bounced back higher into the close and ended with a gain of 0.16%. Silver slipped to as low as $17.879 before it also rallied back higher, but it still ended with a loss of 0.72%.
Euro gold remained at about €1195, platinum gained $12 to $976, and copper climbed a penny to about $2.55.
Gold and silver equities waffled near unchanged and ended with slight gains.

Oil edged lower in mixed trade on continued concerns about growing U.S. crude production.
The U.S. dollar index reversed morning losses into modest afternoon gains and treasuries fell as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P rose as much as 1% after Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said “we’re going to get tax reform done.”
Among the big names making news in the market today were Tesla, Citigroup, Verizon, and Blackstone.
