The Metals:
Gold gained $6.10 to $1287.30 in early afternoon New York trade before it chopped back lower into the close, but it still ended with a gain of 0.29%. Silver slipped to as low as $17.814 and ended with a loss of 0.28%.
Euro gold rose back above €1200, platinum lost $5 to $971, and copper remained at about $2.55.
Gold and silver equities waffled near unchanged and ended with modest gains.

Oil fell over 2% “on renewed concerns that increasing U.S. production and high inventories will thwart OPEC's attempts to reduce the global crude glut.”
The U.S. dollar index edged higher as the euro dipped ahead of this weekend’s election in France.
Treasuries saw slight gains as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P traded mixed and closed lower on political and economic uncertainty.
Among the big names making news in the market Friday were Bebe Stores, Wells Fargo, GE, and Honeywell.
