Gold gained $10.40 to $1244.40 in midafternoon New York trade before it edged back lower in the last hour of trade, but it still ended with a gain of 0.66%. Silver rose to as high as $16.31 and ended with a gain of 0.93%.
Euro gold remained at about €1075, platinum gained $1 to $924, and copper stayed at about $2.73.
Gold and silver equities rose nearly 1% at the open and remained near that level for the rest of the day.

Oil rose almost 1% “following a report that Saudi Arabia is considering cutting crude exports.”
The U.S. dollar index fell and treasuries climbed higher after Republican Senators ditched their effort to reform healthcare.
The Dow traded lower while the Nasdaq and S&P edged up on mixed earnings reports.
