The Metals:
Gold gained $5.50 to $1291.10 by a little after 8AM EST before it drifted back towards unchanged into midday, but it still ended with a gain of 0.36%. Silver rose to as high as $17.086 and ended with a gain of 0.47%.
Euro gold fell to about €1092, platinum lost $1 to $975, and copper fell slightly to about $2.99.
Gold and silver equities traded mostly slightly higher and ended with modest gains.

The Markets:
Oil turned higher after the Energy Information Administration reported that crude inventories fell 3.3 million barrels, gasoline inventories fell 1.2 million barrels, and distillates remained unchanged.
The U.S. dollar index fell and treasuries rose as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P dropped after “President Donald Trump threatened Tuesday to bring the U.S. government to the brink of a shutdown if needed to pressure Congress into funding the border wall that was a centerpiece of his 2016 campaign.”
Among the big names making news in the market today were American Express, McDonald’s, Heineken, Wal-Mart, Google, and Uber.
