The Metals:
Gold edged up to $1290.10 at about 8:45AM EST before it drifted back lower into the close, but it ended with a loss of just 0.5%. Silver slipped to as low as $16.632 and ended with a loss of 1.13%.
Euro gold fell to about €1083, platinum lost $12.50 to $907.50, and copper fell a couple of cents to about $2.95.
Gold and silver equities chopped near unchanged and ended slightly lower.

Next week’s economic highlights include PMI Manufacturing, ISM Manufacturing, and Construction Spending on Monday, ADP employment and ISM Non-Manufacturing on Wednesday, Initial Jobless Claims and International Trade on Thursday, and September’s jobs data, Wholesale Trade, and Consumer Credit on Friday.
The Markets:
Oil waffled near unchanged on vagueness about the amount of supply coming from both Iraq and the US shale industry.
The U.S. dollar index edged lower along with treasuries on mixed economic data and fed uncertainty.
The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P traded mostly higher amid talk over the possibility of a new fed chair.
Among the big names making news in the market Friday were Deutsche Bank, Cornell, HSBC, and Volkswagen.
