The Metals:

 

Gold gained $10 to $1284.90 in Asia before it edged back to $1279.60 in midmorning New York trade, but it then climbed to a new session high at $1285.20 in the last minutes of the day and ended with a gain of 0.78%.  Silver rose to as high as $16.986 and ended with a gain of 1.07%.

 

Euro gold rose to about €1093, platinum gained $4 to $915, and copper remained at about $3.02.

 

Gold and silver equities rose roughly 1% by midmorning and remained near that level for the rest of the day.

 

The Economy:

There are no major economic reports due out tomorrow.

 

The Markets:

 

Oil rose on hopes for extensions to production cuts.

 

The U.S. dollar index fell along with the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P on political uncertainty.

 

Among the big names making news in the market today were Ryanair, Ikea, Deutsche Bank, GM, Marvel, and Wal-Mart.
