The Metals:

 

Gold fell $8.60 to $1277.00 at about 8:15AM EST, but it then chopped back higher in New York and ended with a loss of just 0.37%. Silver slipped to as low as $16.901 and ended with a loss of 0.23%.

 

Euro gold fell to about €1086, platinum lost $16.50 to $916, and copper fell a couple of cents to about $3.16.

 

Gold and silver equities traded mostly slightly lower and ended with modest losses.

The Markets:

 

Oil edged higher on persistent geopolitical concerns.

 

The U.S. dollar index erased early gains and ended lower as the euro rose ahead of next week’s ECB meeting.

 

Treasuries fell as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P climbed to new highs on strong earnings reports.

 

Among the big names making news in the market today were Anthem, Bitcoin, Ford, J.P Morgan, and IBM.
