The Metals:
Gold fell $4.10 to $1276.80 in Asia, but it then climbed to as high as $1290.00 in late morning New York trade and ended with a gain of 0.55%. Silver rose to as high as $17.258 and ended with a gain of 1.35%.
Euro gold rose to about €1088, platinum gained $5 to $921, and copper dropped a penny to about $3.15.
Gold and silver equities traded mostly slightly higher and ended with modest gains.

The Markets:
Oil fell over 1% as ample supplies overcame tension in the Middle East.
The U.S. dollar index dropped as the euro continued higher ahead of next week’s ECB meeting.
Treasuries rose as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P traded mostly lower but ended near unchanged on political uncertainty.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Apple, Amazon, and Verizon.
