Gold fell $6.70 to $1271.10 at about 8:45AM EST, but it then chopped up to as high as $1279.80 in early afternoon trade and ended with a loss of just 0.03%. Silver rose to as high as $17.001 and ended with a loss of 0.18%.
Euro gold fell to about €1082, platinum lost $0.50 to $921, and copper fell a couple of cents to about $3.17.
Gold and silver equities dropped roughly 1% by late morning and remained near that level for the rest of the day.

Oil pared early losses after the Energy Information Administration reported that crude inventories rose 900,000 barrels, gasoline inventories fell 5.5 million barrels, and distillates fell 5.2 million barrels.
The U.S. dollar index fell along with treasuries and the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P on mixed earnings reports and political uncertainty.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Boeing, Uber, Sprint, Toyota, Coke, and Visa.
