JSE Gold































The Metals:


Gold gained $6.20 to $1281.40 in Asia before it fell back to $1273.40 in London and then jumped up to $1284.00 in midmorning New York trade, but it then fell back off into the close and ended with a gain of just 0.08%. Silver slipped to as low as $17.042 and ended with a loss of 0.12%.


Euro gold fell to about €1094, platinum lost $10 to $921, and copper remained at about $3.13.


Gold and silver equities traded mostly slightly higher and ended with modest gains.

The Markets:


Oil ended with a modest gain on hopes for supply cuts.


The U.S. dollar index fell and treasuries rose while the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P traded mixed after details of Republican legislation for tax cuts failed to impress.


Among the big names making news in the market today were Time Warner, Shell, Bombardier, Chesapeake, Alibaba, Tesla, Bitcoin, and Disney.
