The Metals:
Gold fell throughout most of the morning in New York and ended near its early afternoon low of $1275.10 with a loss of 1.28%. Silver slipped to as low as $16.847 and ended with a loss of 2.03%.
Euro gold fell to about €1089, platinum lost $29 to $921, and copper climbed a couple of cents to about $3.09.
Gold and silver equities dropped roughly 1% by midday and remained near that level into the close.

The Markets:
Oil fell almost 1% on uncertainty over how long OPEC’s production cuts will last.
The U.S. dollar index rose as the euro slid lower “on political risks linked to German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s failure to form a three-way coalition government.”
Treasuries traded mixed while the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P found slight gains on mostly positive company news.
Among the big names making news in the market today were AT&T and Time Warner, Aurora, Volvo, Alibaba, and Marvell Technology and Cavium.
