The Metals:
Gold gained $11.30 to as high as $1299.20 in morning New York trade before it drifted back lower in afternoon trade, but it still ended with a gain of 0.46%. Silver rose to as high as $17.174 and ended with a gain of 0.12%.
Euro gold rose above €1087, platinum gained $6 to $946, and copper fell 4 cents to about $3.13.
Gold and silver equities rose roughly 1% by late morning and remained near that level into the close.
The Economy:
U.S. New-Home Sales Unexpectedly Climb to Highest in a Decade Bloomberg
Tomorrow brings International Trade in Goods, S&P Corelogic Case-Shiller HPI, and Consumer Confidence.
The Markets:
Oil fell over 1% on uncertainty over the conclusions from OPEC’s meeting this week.
The U.S. dollar index edged higher and treasuries traded mixed as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P erased early gains and ended near unchanged ahead of a busy economic week.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Keurig, Bitcoin, Google, Keystone, and Meredith and Time.
