The Metals:
Gold edged up to $1251.50 in London, but it then fell back off for most of trade in New York and ended near its late session low of $1240.90 with a loss of 0.41%. Silver slipped to as low as $15.689 and ended with a loss of 0.76%.
Euro gold fell to about €1056, platinum gained $2 to $887, and copper climbed 3 cents to about $2.99.
Gold and silver equities saw slight gains at the open before they fell to see roughly 1% losses by midafternoon, but they then edged back higher into the close and ended mixed on the day.

The Markets:
Oil gained over 1% after it was announced that a key North Sea pipeline was forced to shutdown for repairs for about two weeks.
The U.S. dollar index held near unchanged and treasuries edged higher along with the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P as traders wait for the outcome of this week’s fed meeting.
Among the big names making news in the market today were AmEx, Ford, Monsanto, Bluebird Bio, and Amazon.
