The Metals:
Gold fell $4.20 to $1240.20 in London, but it then jumped to as high as $1256.80 in afternoon New York trade and ended with a gain of 0.87%. Silver surged to as high as $16.146 and ended with a gain of 2.03%.
Euro gold rose above €1061, platinum gained $5.50 to $884.50, and copper climbed 4 cents to about $3.04.
Gold and silver equities gained throughout most of the day and ended almost 4% higher on the day.
The Economy:

Tomorrow brings Initial Jobless Claims, Retail Sales, Import and Export Prices, and Business Inventories.
The Markets:
Oil dropped 1% after the Energy Information Administration reported that crude inventories fell 5.1 million barrels, gasoline inventories rose 5.7 million barrels, and distillates fell 1.4 million barrels.
The U.S. dollar index fell and treasuries rose while the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P pared early gains and ended mixed after the fed failed to increase its forecast for the number of interest rate hikes next year.
Among the big names making news in the market today were T-Mobile, Target, and Google.
