The Metals:
Gold gained $3.80 to $1338.40 in London before it dropped back to $1331.70 by midmorning in New York, but it then extended to as high as $1341.50 in the last hour of trade and ended with a gain of 0.48%. Silver rose to as high as $17.092 and ended with a gain of 0.24%.
Euro gold rose to about €1091, platinum gained $9 to $1005, and copper dropped 8 cents to about $3.12.
Gold and silver equities fell roughly 1.5% at the open, but they then climbed back higher for most of the rest of the day and ended with gains of about 2%.

The Markets:
Treasury yields retreat after Bank of Japan quashes talk of early ‘exit’ of QE MarketWatch
Oil rose nearly 2% on expectations for another drop in US crude stockpiles in tomorrow’s inventory data.
The U.S. dollar index fell as the euro rose on a jump in euro zone consumer confidence data.
Treasuries climbed higher on dovish talk from the Bank of Japan.
The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P traded mostly higher on more strong earnings reports.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Kleenex, Twitter, SoFi, JPMorgan, Verizon, P&G, J&J, GE, Ford, 3M, Netflix, and Bitcoin.
