The Metals:
Gold gained $8.30 to $1361.70 in Asia, but it then fell to as low as $1345.00 in New York and ended with a loss of 0.35%. Silver slipped to as low as $16.618 and ended with a loss of 1.18%.
Euro gold rose to about €1087, platinum gained $5 to $1004, and copper remained at about $3.25.
Gold and silver equities fell almost 4% by midafternoon before they rallied back higher into the close, but they still ended over 2% lower on the day.

The Markets:
Oil edged higher as strong demand expectations overcame supply concerns.
The U.S. dollar index rose on profit taking as shorts covered bets that profited from what was almost the worst week in over a year.
Treasuries saw modest gains as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P erased decent gains seen midday and ended near unchanged on political uncertainty.
Among the big names making news in the market Friday were Waymo, Campbell, Coca-Cola, GE, Tesla, and GM.
