The Metals:

 

Gold saw slight gains in Asia, but it then fell throughout most of trade in London and New York and ended near its late session low of $1333.90 with a loss of 1.18%. Silver slipped to as low as $16.451 and ended with a loss of 1.08%.

 

Euro gold fell to about €1083, platinum lost $5 to $924, and copper dropped 5 cents to about $3.06.

 

Gold and silver equities fell roughly 1% at the open and remained near that level for the rest of the day.

 

The Economy:

U.S. weekly jobless claims fall; import prices unchanged  Reuters

 

Tomorrow brings Consumer Sentiment.

 

The Markets:

 

Oil remained firm after OPEC “said the global oil stocks surplus was close to evaporating due to healthy demand and its own supply cuts.”

 

The U.S. dollar index rose and treasuries fell as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P gained roughly 1% on easing geopolitical and trade tensions.

 

Among the big names making news in the market today were L'Oreal, Bitcoin, Tesla, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Rite Aid.
