Gold gained $2.80 to $1348.80 in Asia before it fell back to $1337.70 at about 9AM EST, but it then rallied back higher for most of the rest of trade and ended with a gain of 0.1%. Silver chopped between $16.584 and $16.799 and ended with a gain of 0.6%.
Euro gold rose to about €1089, platinum gained $5 to $931, and copper remained at about $3.09.
Gold and silver equities waffled near unchanged and ended slightly higher.

The U.S. dollar index found modest gains as the euro dipped on disappointing wage and sentiment data.
Treasuries traded mixed as shorter term maturities fell on the outlook for more rate hikes while longer dated bonds found continued support from geopolitical risks.
The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P gained roughly 1% on mostly better than expected earnings reports.
Among the big names making news in the market today were IBM, Twitter, Goldman Sachs, Johnson & Johnson, Tesla, and Netflix.
